Hi. We're testing our c# governor service and were wondering which discover_command time would be more appropriate to use in killing sessions.

Elapsed seems to disappoint when we test pivots from ssms' cube browser. We think its because the 1st time a browser session opens. the opening itself generates mdx which takes longer (elapsed) than the usual 30000 millisecond threshhold we use for everything else. But elapsed time seems great on straight mdx queries.

CPU time seems to be available only when the query is complete, ie it jumps suddenly in a second or two to over 60000 ms. So as far as we can tell its useless because its available too late. It also confused us when we saw CPU > elapsed at the very end of our experiment. Up until then it was always less which makes more sense. But at the end (if we weren't seeing things) what was an elapsed time of tens of thousands in milliseconds went down to 14 at the same time the cpu spiked from virtually nothing to over 60000.

We'll look again and post here but i wonder if the community already knows CPU is a bad choice as a criterion for killing sessions and what alternatives there might be in achieving "forgiveness" on initial browser open.
