2. I just got my insurance renewal through today - and they've stopped insuring cars over 25yrs old!

Head gasket, head skim, timing belt, water pump, bottom arms, brakes, full new suspension kit, battery, Series 1 RSTurbo wheels, etc. etc.

Been all over and everyone looks at her and comments! I've parked beside way more exotic cars, and this one always pulls a better crowd!

Car starts fine, even if not used for weeks, drives as it should, doesnt overheat, cut out, or do anything out of the ordinary. There is some slight tappet rattle but its a 25yr old CVH engine?!

Selects all gears fine, clutch spot on, think it might need an engine mounting renewed soon but they cost £16 and take half an hour to do.

Brakes are bang on, all just been renewed. Steering is fine, got tracking done when new bottom arms went on a few months ago.

All electrics work as they should, has central locking, electric boot pop, digital clock, plenty of interior lights (its a ghia!).

Seats are nice and comfy, clean, no rips, just 1 tab burn in the drivers seat. Elec windows and mirrors. Sunroof.

Only bit of rust is on the rear arch, and its not past saving, or do a propper job and put a full arch in. Only bits of welding its had done are two tiny patches beside the bonnet hinges. I've been under it and it looks solid. MOT tester commented that it was the best old ford he'd seen for years, and that it had never been welded that he spotted (or will need any). Clean floorpans and boot floor etc.

Only issues with the car are that the heater matrix popped when the headgasket went - so it had been bypassed. They sell them locally for £40 and fitting is not a dashboard out job on these and only takes an hour according to the lads on the orion owners register. The spot lights need wired up but are the propper ford orion ones. The brake pads the garage installed a few months ago don't have the sensor wire on, so the pad warning light falshes a few times on startup. And like I said, someones just broke in and nicked the radio, lock is slighty damaged but still works, just a bit stiff - I will try sort this if the weather satys ok over the weekend.
